2015 Opening Day

Harbor Island Sailing Academy (Harbor Sailboats as its better know today) was founded in 1969 by JimYoes and was truly a trailblazer in the yacht chartering and instruction industry. Prior to the advent of sailing clubs, learning to sail meant hanging around the docks hoping to hitch a ride from a friendly boat owner. Skippering your own boat meant owning one which of course came along with all associated cost and headache. Nowadays, sailing clubs are found in almost every harbor in every waterfront town. While we are proud of our longevity and distinction as one of the first, we are committed to remaining among the finest.

Come celebrate 46 years of Harbor Sailboats history during the annual “Opening Day” regatta Saturday, April 18th. Bring in the summer sailing season with festivities including a handicapped fleet racing (more like a boat parade), BBQ, drinks, awards, and fun for all! All skill levels are welcome and no race experience is necessary.

If you don’t wish to skipper your own boat, join one of the “club boats” accompanied by a licensed captain. Cost is $75 per person 11am-6pm.
